Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the APSU University Advancement office and in coordination with the APSU Athletics Director this position is charged with raising private gifts for at Austin Peay State University Athletics.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan and execute a development plan, which includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors ($10,000+), while working independently or collaboratively with volunteers.
- Manage a major gift prospect base of between 125 – 150 qualified major gift prospects including those top prospects requiring attention from the APSU Director of Athletics, APSU President or Deans.
- Execute 30-35 contacts per month with at least half being personal, direct contact.
- Document contacts and adhere to policies and procedures for accepting, recording and acknowledging gifts.
- Work closely with Athletic Department, Alumni, and Advancement and Public Relations offices to maximize the fundraising potential of the university through participation in events or meetings.
- Attend university athletic events included but not limited to home and away football and basketball game and other varsity athletic events.
- Stewardship of endowment scholarships for athletics or designated college.

Essential Functions

- Results-oriented with professional characteristics that include leadership, commitment to confidentiality, flexibility, team-orientation, attention to detail and sensitivity to the stewardship of long-term relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; negotiation skills, proven success in goal achievement.
- Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer.
- Ability to travel extensively with overnight and occasional weekends.

Physical Requirements

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Required Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years fundraising experience.
- A background and credit history check will be required of the successful applicant.
