Position Summary Information

Position Summary

The Student Computer/Laboratory Assistant will assist Laboratory Manager with updating/maintaining department computers and laboratory equipment.

Availability: 1 position effective August 2017
FOAP: 110001-46601-61400-200

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

- Install software on department computers/laptops.
- Install software updates as needed.
- Prepare lab equipment for use by faculty.
- Organize and perform maintenance as needed on lab equipment after use.
- Clean, organize, and maintain lab storage areas.
- May be asked to operate large format printer immediately prior to or during finals week.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community, and the public.
- Ability to formulate and execute complex tasks.

Required Minimum Qualifications

- Must be a student enrolled at least 1/2 time.
- Must have minimum overall combined GPA of 2.0 (unless you are a first-semester freshman and you have no overall combined GPA).
- Must be familiar with physics laboratory equipment/experiments.
- Must have a good working knowledge of Windows and Mac OS.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- A background check may be required of the successful applicant.
