Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Student Callers for the Phonathon Program are under direct supervision of the Director of Annual Giving. Student Callers are essential to the success of the Phonathon Program and have three main goals: to build and strengthen our relationship with alumni, solicit donations for our Annual Fund, and update alumni with campus news and events.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Typical tasks include but are not limited to:

- Represent Austin Peay State University.
- Establish communication between alumni and the University.
- Call alumni, build rapport, update demographic information, and solicit donations.
- Accurately document alumni’s concerns and requests.
- Work with peers and maintain expected levels of productivity.
- Stay informed about APSU campus, events, and news.
- Commit to work a minimum of two (2) nights per week.
- Commit to work 9 hours per week.
- Arrive on time and with a positive attitude to scheduled calling sessions.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Availability to work a minimum of two (2) nights per week beginning 09/25/2017 AND Ending 11/23/2017.
- Ability to efficiently utilize computer technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the University community, and the public.
- Ability to speak confidently about APSU and make a clear, strong case for financial support during every call to increase both giving and participation.
- Educate alumni about APSU financial needs and motivate them to support our goals.
- Share campus improvements, events, happenings, and student life.
- Exhibit enthusiasm in support of APSU and leave all alumni (regardless of their giving status) with a good feeling about APSU.
- Remain positive and professional.
- Handle each call with courtesy, tact, and sensitivity.
- Think quickly in responding to any questions and/or concerns our alumni may have.
- Gather updated contact information correctly.
- Gain an understanding of the University, its goals, and needs for financial support.
- Ability to work well in a result-oriented environment.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential to this position.

Physical Requirements
Required Minimum Qualifications

- Must be an APSU student enrolled at least 1/2 time.
- Minimum 2.0 overall combined GPA (unless you are a first-semester freshman and you have no overall combined GPA).
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- A background check may be required of the successful applicant.
